About us
Department of Meteorology and Geophysics
The history of the Departmentof Meteorology and Geophysics in Vienna effectively began in 1851 with the founding of the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (now GeoSphere Austria). Through its close ties to government observation and university teaching, it developed into a modern research institute and is now one of the most important centers for atmospheric and geophysical research in the German-speaking world.
