Climate Diagnosis
The Climate Diagnosis Group develops novel methodologies for understanding and quantifying uncertainties of global energy, moisture, and mass budgets within Earth's atmosphere and ocean. Earth's vertical and horizontal flows of energy form a central focus of our research, particularly in the context of Earth's Energy Imbalance (EEI). This requires rigorous checks of the consistency and temporal homogeneity of observationally constrained climate data, including reanalyses as well as their data sources. Regionally we are contributing knowledge about processes such as Polar Amplification, Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation and the El Niño - Southern Oscillation.
