Energy transport in the atmosphere (Master)

The FLEXPART model will be used to establish at least two case studies by performing domain-filling simulations. The focus should lie on extremely high wind speeds, for example the storm event “Lothar” in 1999 in Europe. The transport of the energy during such extremes shall be analysed and compared between these events. Where does the kinetic energy come from and what are the most relevant, physical processes leading to such extreme events? Additionally, the results are compared with the Eulerian method.
