Up-Goer Five challenge at the EGU General Assembly 2024

05.01.2024

This year, the Up-Goer Five challenge will be part of the EGU General Assembly for the first time. In the challenge, speakers have to present their research using only the 1000 most common English words.

Inspired by an XKCD comic describing the Saturn V Rocket using only the 1000 most common English words, the Up-Goer Five challenge has become part of several scientific conferences in recent years. A team of four conveners (including two from our department) brought it to the EGU General Assembly this year. The challenge is a fun way of rethinking your research and improving your communication skills. More details can be found here

The call for abstracts is open until 10 January, 13:00CET. If you would like to participate in the challenge, submit an abstract here
