Under the supervision of Prof. Leo Haimberger, Michael has been working on the analysis of the low-frequency variability of global energy budgets. In the course of his work, he was able to shed new light on the physical mechanisms underlying the El Niño phenomenon.
During his PhD thesis work, Michael took advantage of the Graduate Student Visitor Program, spending a total of six months at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAr) in Boulder, Colorado (USA). At NCAR's Earth System Laboratory, he was working with some of the leading scientists in the field of climate energy budgets. Three publications in the reknowned Journal of Climate have originated from his PhD thesis.
Until the end of this year, Michael will continue his work in the Group of Theoretical Meteorology. Congratulations again and our best wishes!
