The University of Vienna is partner in the EU FP7 Projekt ERA-CLIM2. Four members of our department are contributing to it.
The purpose of this project is to digitize historical observation data in the oceans, at the surface and in the free atmosphere and to assimilate those with a global data assimilation system. The produced data sets are in many respects the best worldwide and are being used by thousands of scientists worldwide as input. More than one Petabyte of atmospheric, oceanic and surface data on a high resolution grid are now available free of charge.
